UK Easter Breaks

Visiting the UK at Easter is a great idea. The climate is generally mild, the country is covered with broad swathes of daffodils and the masses of tourists that sometimes make the more popular sites such a chore will not have got there yet.

So, surprisingly, London, Oxford, Bath, Windsor, Edinburgh, Liverpool and other big cities are excellent choices for a UK Easter Break.

The seaside is not really considered the best choice at Easter, but towns like Brighton on the coast are definitely worth a visit at any time of year.

All the outdoor attractions open for Easter, so whether your tastes run to amusement parks or historic monuments, England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland all have loads to offer.

For an Easter Break with a difference, why not stay in an ancient Castle, stately home or Coaching Inn?  Fancy staying somewhere that was built before the first European ever visited America.  No problem.  Pretty much every town has a fifteenth century building that has been turned into a hotel.

Churches welcome allcomers regardless of your personal religion (or lack of it) so walk in, have a chat and look around. The oldest church in England dates back to 640ad and despite being more than 1300 years old, the door isn’t even locked.

As for shopping, some shops do have Easter sales, but this is not a universal event.

Look out for local customs in small villages. Egg rolling, Morris Dancing and the giving of alms all happen here and there, and of course Hot Cross Buns are eaten everywhere.
